Our Electrical Technology program will give you a huge head start in the industry. Students who complete the two-year program are eligible to take the WV Electrical Journeyman’s Test. Those who enter the industry without this training have to work in the field for four years before they can test for this license.
Completers of this program are also eligible to continue their education after high school in JRTI’s Electromechanical Technology program (page 12). This opens up career options in the industrial maintenance field, putting you in very high demand in an area full of industrial plants like the four-state region. Want more options? Training in this program will give you a strong foundation to build on if you want to pursue an electrical engineering degree in college.
Mobile Career Center Activity
Students will learn about electrical safety, wire stripping, securing wires in wire nuts, switches, and bulb posts. They will complete a 110 circuit, that is locked out and tagged out.
